Free Resources to help you create & deliver more effective PowerPoint presentations

Reports & Documents

I have created a number of reports or documents that will help you create a more effective presentation, such as: a free chapter of The Visual Slide Revolution, the latest results from the Annoying PowerPoint survey, and special reports with tips that will improve your presentations. You can select which ones you want to read and download them in PDF format so that you can read them on your computer, e-Reader, or tablet device.

The reports and documents you can download are listed below. Use the Add to Cart button to add each item to your download list. After you add each item, you will see the cart with all your items listed (including items you have already selected from other parts of this site). Click the Continue Shopping button to come back and select more items. You will see the list of items on the right side of the screen for your reference. When you are done, use the Checkout button on the shopping cart or under the list on the right side of the screen. You will enter your information and receive a page with links to download each item (even though I am using a shopping cart to make the process easier, you will never enter payment information because all the resources are free!). You will also receive an e-mail with a link for the downloads if you want to download the files later.

Results from the latest Annoying PowerPoint Survey

This survey, conducted every two years, reports what audiences find annoying about bad PowerPoint presentations. The results are reported on many blogs, media sites, and by experts in presentations and academia.

Chapter 2 from The Visual Slide Revolution

My book The Visual Slide Revolution contains the five-step KWICK method for transforming overloaded text slides into effective visuals. The book was selected as one of the Top 10 Business Books of 2008 by The Globe and Mail, Canada’s leading newspaper. You can download Chapter 2, which contains an overview of the five steps. Once you’ve read this chapter, you will want to purchase your own copy here.

Font Size Chart

How can you answer the important question of “How big of a font should I use on my slides?” The only correct answer is, “It depends.” It depends on the size of the screen you are using and the size of the room you are presenting in. I’ve done the calculations using visual acuity standards and the standards used to design road signs, so you can be assured that the font sizes I recommend are grounded in research. I’ve created a table that you can use to always have your text easy to see.
